A fitted sheet goes on the mattress, a flat sheet goes on top of the fitted sheet, then the blanket and bedspread

The fitted sheet is the bottom sheet. It has rounded elasticized corners to tuck neatly under the corners of the mattress. The rounded coreners fit tightly allowin the sheet to stay in place. The flat sheet is the top sheet. You tuck one end of it under the bottom of the mattress, leaving enough sheet to reach halfway over the pillows. Voila!!! Your bed is made.
