Is it possible to take a full sized bedding set (comforter, fitted & regular sheet) & alter it to fit a twin?

I've been looking for the ';perfect'; bed-in-a-bag set. I've found it. I've searched %26amp; searched %26amp; can only find it in a Full size or larger, no twins sizes :o( . I have a friend who told me it was possible to get the full sized set %26amp; have someone who knows how to sew (obviously I don't) do alterations to bring it down to actually fit a twin size. (someone else suggested I ';tuck'; it in, but that would be too bulky). I've never saw this done before, so I wanted to ask people who were experts when it comes to sewing %26amp; let me know if this would be possible. I have done several sheet sets this way with no trouble at all.


The trouble came with the comforter, that I cut down from a King to a Full size. I had feathers everywhere, even though I closed the door of the room where I did it, I had feathers all over the house, I think they came to life and crawled under the door. You would have to sew in order to be able to do this, it may be cheaper to buy a bigger bed.

Yes....


I am always altering King size to fit my Queen size.


1.Remove the blankets, etc from the bed leaving the exposed matterss.


2. Turn fitted sheet WRONG side out and put it on the mattress.


3.Have fitted mattress pulled in on one side /leaving only 1 side to repair.


4. Pull it tight and fit it with straight pins for a good smooth fit.


5.Making sure you only have to sew the corners of on side.


6.Some elastic in in the fitted corners sometime it is along the side .


7.This is when you will have to figure out if you need to cut anything off (if it's on the side).


If so cut it off make a small seam and insert elastic.


8. Top sheet


Easy do, You can leave it and tuck underneath mattress or cut off desired amount and seam up the side.

Yep, It's possible, and not very difficult to do either...if you sew~I do. Whoever you get to do it for you will just have to cut off the excess (length wise) of the top sheet and re-hem it. You could even do that part and have it ready~use one of the twin sheets you already have to get the size you want, then cut it off about an inch wider, then turn it over and press it over a 1/4~1/2 inch with your iron~do that twice so you'll have a finished edge that can just be sewn real quick. It will depend how the fitted sheet is made~whether the elastic runs~ all the way around it or just the top edge~but the same general idea. Actually, to make it even simpler, you could just buy a set of twin sheets that match your new comforter:) Most of the sheets that come with the sets are a solid color anyway. You might not have to do anything with the comforter~it will just hang down a little farther, but not too much actually, and you probably won't even notice the difference in a twin vs a full. Before you buy your set though, check on eBay. I buy all of my bedding on there, and get some excellent deals~you might just get lucky!!
