What is a fitted bottom sheet and what is a fitted top sheet?

I think a fitted bottom sheet is used for the matress. What is the fitted top sheet for? It has only top side sewed and the bottom is not sewed. What is a fitted bottom sheet and what is a fitted top sheet?
Well, I was surprised to see the other answers! Of course there's a fitted top sheet! You just have it backwards. The fitted bottom sheet, as mentioned below is sewn on all four corners and should be very smooth when pulled over all 4 corners of the mattress. The fitted TOP sheet is simply half of the fitted bottom sheet. For this sheet, place the two sewn corners on the bottom corners of the mattress; the free top then can be folded over the blankets. The reason for fitted top sheets is that you can't kick your way out of them during the night. That's also why they never really caught on.What is a fitted bottom sheet and what is a fitted top sheet?
there is no such thing as a fitted top sheet. There's a ';top sheet'; not fitted tho, and that is used to cover oneself. The fitted bottom sheet is what goes over the mattress and it has an elastic edge on all 4 sides
A fitted bottom sheet is a sheet that has elastic on the four corners to fit the mattress. There is no such t hing as a fitted top sheet. What you says sounds like a waterbed sheet.
never heard of a fitted top or bottom sheet, just a fitted sheet!
